EVOLUTION OF RAMPS
Man has designed several useful and simple devices which make work comfortable. Ramps are one amongst these and are usually attachments used to load and unload goods and their evolution could be dated back to the 1900’s.The need for designing a ramp was felt as pulling snow mobiles over trailers was a daunting task in hilly areas. Also, an alternative to ease human burden in hilly areas was the need of the hour. This eventually led to the designing of the not so famous short skid ramps which later got evolved into the basic inclined snow platforms.
Though ramps are available in several forms as per the requirements and have umpteen fields of applications, ramps were initially designed only to make the work of loading cargo into vehicles such as trucks , a piece of cake. In general embodiment, ramps are one of the simplest yet by far the most down-to-earth servant of mankind.
